Bidder-design, engineer and manufacture 96,000 square foot timber float system, and 80’x 80’ steel pipe pontoon drive-down float. A critical consideration in the design of the project was the need to expand the existing number of slips to accommodate the heavy demand in this commercial boat harbor. The slip count increased from 452 to 727; slip sizes range from 24’ to 70’. Cordova’s South Harbor is one of Alaska’s largest single-basin harbors. Float design and production was fast-tracked to meet the demanding schedule requirements and the community’s need for a functional harbor by the fish opener.
The harbor is designed to accommodate heavy wind and wave conditions, while maintaining performance, user safety, longevity and maintenance reduction.
